Need help? Look at this website for a list of skills! Lots of areas to think about! Help each other out!Give your notebook to a friend who knows you well. Add as many new ideas to any of the three categories that you think your friend missed about themselves. Ashley WILL SEE THESE, so keep it respectful, honest, KIND, and appropriate. Help each other see the AWESOMENESS in themselves! Share out and then add some more!
A Note From Ashley on InspirationPurpose leads to passion! If you have a clear purpose, especially one rooted in being of service to others, it creates passion! For instance, I may not always LOVE grading, but my purpose to help you all become the best writers you can, in order to be able to open doors and gain opportunities, provides me with the passion and enthusiasm to put my heart and soul into it. However, purpose is hard to find because sometimes you need to find inspiration and clarity. That takes TIME! If you feel yourself frustrated or stuck in finding an inspired #20time project, know that having the ideas takes time. This week is all about planting the seed so that your brain starts chewing on it. You can't force inspiration to happen. But if you start thinking about it now, start researching, the idea will hit you when you least expect it. But give yourself the time and space to have the idea hit you! Do the research and then also give yourself some space where you don't have to think hard about it but where you're calm, relaxed, and you'd be suprised on what can arise. Maybe that means going on a run or hike in the snow. Maybe it means listening to music or drawing. But don't have a ton of distractions. Put away the screen! Brainstorming Problems/Issues: Page 5 of Launch PacketLet's start brainstorming the problems we might want to solve! Homework Overview: Get our your planning device!Day 2 of #20time Project * Wednesday, January 5th * Page 3We'll start with "Independent Research #20time" and work our way through "Bad Idea Factory. Solo or Group Work?No matter what, you’ll need to collaborate be it with each other/a partner or with a community audience. So collaboration really is at the heart of this. *It’s your choice, however, whether you work with other students or go it alone. Working solo means you have even more autonomy, don’t have to compromise as much, and can often be more focused. Working in groups can enable you to accomplish more IF the group is high-functioning but it can also mean frustration, power dynamics, less freedom, etc…. BUT, for those who choose to work in groups:
Moon Shot Thinking --> Brainstorming IdeasThe major problems we’re facing today can’t be solved by making the status quo just a little bit better. We need systems based major change!
TAKEAWAY: Think BIG! There’s a good change you'll start up a path no one else has attempted and find exactly what the world needs, just beyond the sign that reads: “Impossible”. Turn to page 5 of your Launch Guides: "Problems and Solution Brainstorm"#20time OVERARCHING GOAL:
Each student must create a well-structured, mission-driven semester-long experiment in meeting some need or solving the problem for a specific audience or community.
