Starter 18Who are all the different "stakeholders" in the Bears Ears Monument debate? Stakeholders: The various people or groups that have a "stake" in this issue. Duet 1- Finish Battle Over Bears EarsBears Ears Stakeholder Summit PreparationPurpose: Over the next week, you are going to research and embody the perspective of two different stakeholders in the Bears Ears controversy. The hope here is that you deeply understand the perspective and the values that underpin the perspective. Ultimately, we would like you to bring those perspectives together, and try to figure out the most JUST solution.
Phase 1: Stakeholder Reading and Note-taking Assignment- Due Tuesday, 2/8 start of class For this phase, you will be assigned ONE of the groups below. You must read ALL of the resources under your assigned perspective and take notes (see the note-taking guide below) before class Tuesday, 2/8. OPTIONAL Challenge Extension-- pick a perspective of your choice on the OPPOSITE side and read and take notes on that perspective as well OR do your own research to fact check the sources you are assigned. Phase 2: Stakeholder Summit- Tuesday, 2/8 On Tuesday, 2/8 we’ll host a Bears Ears National Monument Stakeholder Summit, where you’ll be assigned ONE side of the debate, and work with other students on your side to share notes, clarify your research and come up with a solution proposal. You’ll need to debate your ideas with the other team and ultimately come to consensus as a community as to what is the most fair proposal. Finish the FilmLet's finish the film!
